-Original Unimat Lathe! -

Unimate Mill-Drill Model SL-1000

I ran across this machine 2 years ago at my optometry
school, later to find out it's an Original Unimat Lathe
Model SL 1000! After much begging and
many reminders not to throw it away, I finally got it!
Thanks Gary L. Its a little rusty and dry but in great
working condition.

Its found the Best home! 5-20-02

Looking for Manuals? Belts? Cool stuff for your Unimat? Check out Doug's Site!

A huge Thank You to David P. from CA for providing me belts and a copy of his original Unimat instructional manual dated 1971! David wrote to me about his and was kind enough to send me this stuff. There really are some wonderful people out there. Thanks David!

Here is everything. A little drill machine which is convertible to a lathe! Some of the accessories include a 3 jaw chuck, live center, vise, step down blocks, milling table, and a power feed.

A little closer view of the machine in its lathe configuration! You can see the tail slide with a dead center in it. The leadscrew are in perfect order and once I grease it up it should be "perfect."

Here you can see the rusty 3 jaw chuck, cutter, collets, and collect holder for the mill. In the back ground are original 6, 1/4" lathe bits in the original wooden case! wow!

I finally figured out what and how to use this other accessory, it's a power feed! The lathe mounts right to it, a belt runs it, and at the end some gears mesh to turn the leadscrew! Here you can see the beautiful gears and the on/off lever.

Machine in the original wooden case!

I later remembered seeing this machine in Joe's Tabletop Machining book page 3 (which is an older model DB-200), and it said it came in a wooden box! I remembered seeing THIS WOODEN BOX but did not realize it was a part of the package then. I wasted no time and quickly went back to get it!  What a Find.

I'm so happy I could bust :)
Smiling ear to ear!
